Sunday drive

We decided a while ago to take a drive up the canyon. We missed the leaves but still had a fun time.

Can you say "Karate Kid". I guess I just dated us, we're old.

Keys Anyone?

Since we did the whole Halloween thing the night before, I was excited for a relaxing day. I needed some poster board for Primary the next day so I loaded up 4 of the kids and headed to town. I figured the $1 store would be the best bet so we headed into what my kids now think is something pretty close to Santa's workshop. (Needless to say I try not to take my kids with me when I shop!) After our little excusion to what has now become the FAVORITE store, I decided to head off across the street to grab some milk. Of course, the store was doing their own little trick or treat event so we had to make our way throughout the entire store gathering candy. Once we finished with our basket full of groceries--and yes getting milk for our family does entail an entire basket full, for about 4 days-- we headed out to the van, to discover...NO KEYS in my purse.

"Okay, I know I had the keys because I had to have locked the van with the keys."

( I should make it known that I am NOTORIOUS for losing my keys and my wallet. Jason has threatened many times to surgically attach said items to my body. He once had to rescue me an hour away only for me to find my keys in my coat pocket while I was out at recess the next day!)

After dumping the contents of my purse out to find that the the keys really were not there, we headed to Customer Service. NO KEYS.

We traced our steps throughout the entire store (no candy this time). NO KEYS.

"Everybody check ALL of your pockets." NO KEYS.

Back outside to look under and all around the van. NO KEYS.

It should also be noted that I only had 4 children with me because Thomas was with Jason helping to build Grandma & Grandpa's new house. I was not excited to make the phone call taking Jason away from this project. But I called anyway. Walking the 10 miles home really wasn't an option!

Kim: I lost the keys.

Jason: Great.

Kim: Can you find the spare key and come rescue us?

Jason: Do you know where the spare key is?

Kim: In one of these possible locations.

Jason: Okay, I'll be there in a bit.

Have you ever tried to entertain 4 children in the parking lot while they're on a serious sugar high? I don't suggest it.

Finally, Jason came to rescue us. I love my husband and I know he loves me inspite of all of my unorganized issues.

Jason: I couldn't find the key. But I did find the remote/clicker thingy. It needs a new battery though.

While Jason was battery shopping Carter exclaimed, "I know where the spare key is, it's in the red van!" ( yes we own more than one van) I forgot all about combining keys onto one key ring. See I try to be organized! Jason emerged from the store, new battery installed into our NONFUNCTIONING remote. Everyone into Dad's car! Head home. Carter runs over to the red van to retrieve spare key, but again...NO KEYS.

Seriously.

As I rumaged through various places I thought I may have put the key for "safekeeping" Jason brought Emma in, hands full of candy. Emma LOVES candy (and all things unhealthy). She also loves anything that she isn't supposed to touch. She shoved her hands into her pocket to hide her stash of treats, pulled her hands out and exclaimed, "I find keys!" Apparently I didn't check Emma's pockets.

We now have many spare keys for the van, I hope I remember where I put them all.

On a good note, pork roast were on sale for 79 cents a pound. I bought 15 of them.

It's been quite some time since I've been on this little blog. Life just doesn't seem to slow down. Halloween was almost a month ago and here I am just posting our pictures!

Our little town does a "Trunk-or-Treat" because the houses are so spread out. I have to admit that I quite like going to the church, taking the kiddos around the parking lot (or letting their cousins take the little girls this year!) and being back home in less than an hour. The trunk or treat was the night before Halloween and the kids also had a Halloween piano recital that same night, they did a great job. It was a good night.
